Mission: Squadron 28's mission is to help keep historical
military aircraft flying, so they may be seen and experienced by aviation
enthusiasts in the upper Midwest. One of the methods used is to fly
the T-41 to air shows and other fly-in events. Also,
we participate with the Experimental Aircraft Association’s Young Eagle
Program which gives youth the opportunity to participate in a flight
experience. At the events every
effort is made to allow guests to look at and sit in the T-41 while
Squadron 28 pilots answer their questions. This is extremely
important as most aviation event aircraft are roped off and no one
is around to answer questions. Squadron 28 is based out of Dodge
Center Minnesota (25 miles west of Rochester).
Sponsors: Dan and Lisa Walker have made
available a 1965 Cessna T41 for squadron 28 use. Our T41A is
currently sponsored by Southern Minnesota Warbirds of America, Inc.,
Squadron-28. Squadron 28 is a Nonprofit 501c3 Corporation.
Affiliation: After many months of hard work SMWoA Squadron 28 is
operational and our aircraft is painted to the Hondo Texas USAF paint
scheme! We are also a member of EAA Warbirds of America because of
the commitment they have made to "keep 'em flying" and insurance
availability.
Funding: Squadron 28 recently undertook the project of raising
funds to restore this T41A back to its original USAF colors. We are
currently seeking additional funds to help sponsor this project and other
military aviation education projects and programs. Your contributions go a
long way in ensuring future generations get to experience historical
military aircraft. Squadron 28 strongly believes in "touch and
feel" displays at aviation events. Please help us with your financial
contribution so thousands (young and old alike) get the opportunity to see
and tour historic military aircraft up close and personal.
